After an unproductive, weekend, not to mention painfull; i finally got my mojo back, and trying to get resume my groove. I was hit with a bad case of the flu which was horrible; it totally sucked the life out of me for the better part of my week.

Me aside; am starting a new project which mainly employs web 2.0 concepts. It's a site or a micro site for my significant other. I already made a draft of what i wanted to see and feel for the layout and design. Though am just gonna give it my 110% now... after much procrastinating. Look forward to seeing it within the month; it'll be the first addition to me new portfolio.

With regards to my own site, i updated the gallery engine to patch some bugs on the IE browser. I also added a few tweaks to the dropdown menu. Expect to see more content within the week; mainly on my worx section. I'll be putting up some of my old works for that nostalgic feel.

At what cost shall you sacrifice functionality for esthetics? I've been searching the web for new ways to improve the look and feel of my site, and i came across some pretty nifty applets. But no matter how good they look, they tend to sacrifice other key attributes such as usability, compatibility, loading time and what not.

Many of you guys may know AJAX; well i tried using this to address an issue I had with my photo gallery; which is viewing each picture in full size (which requires opening a new window, a popup or loading a new page). So i came up with a solution which employs this technology. But again, as I said in the first paragraph, you have to sacrifice something; in my case, compatibility... ok i'll go ahead and let it out my chest MSIE is a piece of crap!; i guess they haven't heard of the term Standards.. Though a disciplined developer tries not to cut corners; so again i sacrificed a few things here and there to make it work.

Well everything looks nice and spiffy for now; the image routines are consolidated inside classes, the javascript stuff seems to be copasetic and the style sheets seem to agree. But let's not stop there folks! there's always room for improvement.

Finally! i took some time to try out using classes in PHP; and to my surprise, i found it a lot more interesting than i had previously thought. I'm really getting the feel of coding in an OO manner.

My first exercise was to convert my numerous PHP files on image manipulation and consolidate them into a reusable class. To my delight it turned out to be a success; in addition, i also integrated a new feature into the site whic involves images. Aside from the Gallery Section being fully automated, I added a CAPTCHA feature on the Tags Section.just for practise.

On other matters, I also updated the code and content on all the sections; I'm also proud to announce that the page for my neko mimi project is already up with a new build to boot! so for those interested, please check it out.

what a neat date we have today June 6, 2006 or plainly put 6-6-6 lol! well that aside, i am kinda extactic since i just placed an order at PhilHosting for a 1 year subscription to their web hosting services and domain name service. i chose a new domain name for my new project; contrary to 8xkarma.org which i've always used, i opted for a new and more profesional name... which is seening.net

well ok it seems like a pun at first but i think it's catchy and embodies what i want to achieve on my new pet project. I have some new ideas i wanna try out and the name just seemed to clicked. anyway, enough of the chit-chat; i'll be back once my host is up.

Kamusta kaibigan!? It's been a while, hasn't it? I am glad to get out of my long slump and present you with something that I am proud of. It's my new layout which takes me back to the days when I first started out in web development, sometime in '98 -- when f2s (freedom to surf) was the hosting bomb, when image maps were cool, and flash was just starting to make its mark. I gave some old ideas a new touch here and there, made a simple design with subtle details, light highlights and a warm color scheme... and voila! version 8 is born.

Simple and concise, I think that's the best way to do things. I've noticed a lot of flashy websites which look cool but ain't exactly usable. I wanna stretch what CSS, AJAX, JavaScript and the like have to offer before I use flash. I think there's plenty of room for improvement in terms of design using these tools without resorting to flash. Don't get me wrong though, I do like flash. I started using it since version 4; but each job requires a specific set of tools so to speak.

what it should look like

If the picture you see to your left doesn't resemble the layout you see right now, then you might want to upgrade your browser. I've tested this site with IE 6, Opera 8.54 and Firefox 1.5. I strongly recommend you use the last one. But a few of my friends tested this on the following browsers as well, namely: Avant and Maxton. It worked well on Maxton; but kinda sucked with Avant since the font sizes weren't rendered correctly.. If you're still experiencing problems, please make sure that your browser fully supports CSS.

Well, I gotta jet since my work ain't done. The site still has a lot of work on it which I need to attend to if I wanna meet my deadline. Lemme know what you think. Constructive comments are always welcome.

Hurry up and seize the day!
And let no one hinder your way;
I'll stand by your side, my friend
and I'll see you through 'till the end.

Find the strength to fulfill your dreams
No matter how hard and difficult it may seem;
I'll support you all the way
and help you get through the rainy days.

Don't let criticism get the best of you
Take it as a challenge for you to pursue,
For I know you have the potential to see it through
So you have no reason to feel down or blue.

Be the best that you can be
Express yourself, for the world to see;
'Cause successful I know you'll be
I'll be by your side, 'cause you have a friend in me.

I refuse to be a decor for you
Just so that you can say you have one;
Nor to fill in an empty space for you
When the one you truly desire is gone.

You try to live the moment in your mind
When you are uncertain with what you feel;
Then when all is well you leave me behind
And you tell me what you felt was real.

I gave you everything I could give.
Was I not adequate enough for you?
You were the sole purpose for me to live
Was that not enough to prove I loved you?

But still, I do not regret anything,
Even though for you it was just a fling.

Ako'y nakatingala sa buwan
at sa mga tala ng pag-ibig.
Boses mo'y aking naulinigan
sa awit ng hanging kay lamig.

Aking nasilayan ang iyong mukha
na nakaguhit sa alapaap;
At tila ako'y napapaluha
sa alaala ng iyong sulyap.

Di ko makaligtaang isipin,
ang pag ibig na ating taglay;
Simula sa pagtatakip-silim
hanggang sa pagbubukang-liwayway.

Dahil ika'y aking iniibig
Isang bagay na 'di madadaig.
