tsk tsk

I was browsing the net for some part-time jobs to help me earn a little extra for my savings when I stumbled upon this ad (click the image to your left). Notice the highlighted text on the ad.

First up, I respect the bluntness of the ad, simple and concise; but I also find it a bit disturbing. From a personal perspective I find this a bit unnerving; much so that it may send the wrong message to other hopeful applicants. One can interpret it as only a university grad would have the brains for the job, or that that company discriminates against non-diploma holders e.g. certificate holders, or worse both. I had my qualms with this issue back in college, but I rested my case years back.

I guess it just brought back some unwanted memories... but if memory serves me right I know more talented and qualified I.T. personnel who are non-diploma holders, compared to those who graduated from fancy universities. My point is, it should be the attitude of a person and raw talent that should be gaged. Not everyone can afford a higher education but that does not negate the fact that there are plenty of skilled and talented people out there waiting for a chance.

To look at this in a positive point of view, these kinds of companies could serve as a source of self-esteem where proving them wrong would be such bliss.
