I just arrived from Boracay, our family vacation. Honestly speaking, I never thought I'd have this much fun. The most enjoyable part of the trip for me was the food. We had a mouth-full of choices: we had Mexican, Italian, Spanish, German-Swiss, and of course the local cuisine. Not to mention the cheesecakes to die for, the best cheesecake I've ever tasted so far. The thing I enjoyed on the trip was the opportunity to relax and try new stuff. We did several water sports like jet skiing, snorkeling, fly fishing, and bangka/speed boat rides. On our down time, we had a full body massage which was nothing short of heavenly. I'd also chill in the pool while sipping on fruit shakes, taking long hot showers and enjoying room service. To sum it all up, it was a taste of paradise... especially so since I didn't shell out a single peso. One thing I noticed, though which bothered me was the condition of the island. The waters were not as clear, the beaches were filled with litter, and it was generally populated. I'm guessing 5 to 10 years from now, that vacation spot will just be a beautiful photo on someone's desk. I saw people casually littering the beaches, with their cigarette butts, food and drink wrappers and sometimes feces; which was kinda disgusting. I hope my daughter gets the chance to enjoy the sights and sounds nature has to offer, for all of our sakes. The trip was a very enjoyable and educational trip for me. One thing to point out also was the cliché of going to the beach and hooking up is totally over-rated. All I saw were able-bodied individuals flaunting their physiques for attention. It's just some ruse to fuck around or garner attention. It kinda sends the wrong messages to the younger generation. At the rate things are going, sex is becoming more of a commodity readily available to a younger demographic as the years pass. |
