The best birthday gift ever! My daughter, Yzabella was born yesterday, May 8, 2007 at 10:52 AM; who shares the same birth date with me. She was actually due on the 14th of May, but I decided to have an ultrasound last Monday May 7th, to see what are the chances of a normal delivery. The doctor said the chances were slim given the build of my significant other. Also, the estimated fetal weight was 3503 grams +/- 200 grams, which is roughly 7-8lbs. So I asked the doctor if the fetus was mature enough to enter this world, and she said yes. The fetal gestation was 39 weeks and 6 days already. So we decided on having a C-Section the next day... and so here we are. The operation started at around 10:30am and only lasted for 30-40 minutes. My significant other is still in the hospital, but is recovering well. The operation went without incident, which I am very thankful for. After the operation the doctor briefed me on the details of the operation. It turns out that we made the right choice of proceeding with the C-Section. My significant other's pelvic bone clearance was kinda narrow and the umbilical cord of the kid was abnormally short, only 28 cm. So even if we waited, and even if the baby could fit through the pelvis, we would still end up doing the C-Section. Today, I attended to the hospital bills and my kid's birth certificate. I hardly felt it was my birthday yesterday. I was too caught up in the moment. Thankfully I can rest today, then go back to the hospital tomorrow. Hopefully my kid can be discharged then so I can take her home already. |
